We use our ears, nose and throat every day, so it can be stressful when issues with them arise. At ENT NOW – Des Peres, we’re here to support you through this process. Whether you’re first noticing your symptoms or have concerns about an ongoing condition, our otolaryngologist will provide diagnosis, treatment and support.
Should I See an Otolaryngologist?
An Otolaryngologist, or ENT, is a medical provider who specializes in treating disorders related to the ear, nose and throat. Many patients receive a referral from a general practitioner. If you’ve experienced symptoms like snoring, four or more sinus infections in the past year, frequent sore throats, facial pressure, sinus headaches or sudden hearing loss, it might be good to visit an ENT. Symptoms related to ENT can be frustrating, but we’re here to help.
What Disorders Are Commonly Treated by ENTs?
- Ear infections
- Tonsillitis
- Sleep apnea
- Sinus infections
- Hearing loss
- Tinnitus
- Ménière’s disease
What Does an ENT Exam Include?
Our first step will be to get an overview of your concerns. We’ll discuss the symptoms you’ve been experiencing, along with their duration and severity.
Depending on your symptoms, our provider may perform a visual exam of your ears, sinuses, throat and tonsils, and feel your neck for lumps. Additional testing might include X-rays and CT scans. Though this process isn’t typically painful, some patients may gag during the mouth exam.
What Are the Next Steps?
Once our otolaryngologist has determined the cause of your symptoms, we’ll provide the best treatment for your needs. Our team will ensure that your symptoms don’t keep you from the activities that mean the most to you.
