Inspire is the only FDA-approved treatment for obstructive sleep apnea that works inside your body to treat the root cause of sleep apnea with just the click of a button.
Unlike a CPAP machine, patients no longer have to use a mask and hose for treatment with Inspire, which means better sleep. FDA-approved since 2014 with no negative long term side effects, more insurance companies cover the Inspire treatment for qualified patients 18 years of age and older who have tried CPAP but are still not getting effective sleep.
Sound Health otolaryngologist, Dr. Matt Marino, M.D., has been performing the Inspire procedure for several years since it first became available in Missouri. Sound Health otolaryngologist, John Park M.D., also performs the Inspire procedure. Read more about Dr. Park and the procedure here.
To be eligible for Inspire, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- 18 years of age or older.
- Recent sleep study (within past 2 years) showing moderate to severe sleep apnea.
- BMI < 35.
- Tried CPAP but still not getting effective sleep.
For candidates who meet the requirements, an endoscopic airway exam is performed prior to implant of the device. Patients can expect the entire process from initial consult to implantation procedure to titration afterwards to take a few months. To learn more, visit the Inspire website.
